A truly historic place with a little something for everyone! The Central Visayas Region (region VII), is one of the most popular in all of the Philippines. The region is known for it’s mega malls, universities, nightlife, and amazing festivals. The English language is spoken fluently by the vast majority of citizens in this area, perhaps this is due to all the tourist that come in and out of the Mactan-Cebu airport. The region is fairly safe being centralized, but take note an earthquake did rumble the area recently badly damaging many historic sites.
Although there are many great cities and villages in this region, not all are appealing to tourists. The recommended tourist destinations include: Cebu City, Bohol, Panglao Island, Siquijor, Camotes Island, Danao, Bantayan Island, Mactan Island & Olango Island, and Malapascua Island. The top 3 destinations by popularity are pictured below.
Note: We still have a separate page for the former Negros Island Region.
